OVER THE BRITISH in the mist.

A Sunday morning in April and all was not well as we cycled out of Croesyceiliog at 10:00. The weather had turned into a wintry, drizzly, cold blast, making us revert to our winter bikes. Our ride was to take us to Pontypool where Nick took on some provisions at Tesco's. We then ambled up the cycle track to Plaes-Coed, here the road steepens considerably! We climbed up to the village of Pantygasseg where we were engulfed in mist. The mist got thicker as we climbed up an over the barren landscape of Mynydd Llanhileth at 440 metres. The northerly wind hit us full on as we climbed over the British at 480 metres. The thick fog cut down visibility to less than 10 metres, the descent was cautiously taken, before long we appeared out of the haze in Tal-y-Waun. It was then a leisurely ride back home along the cycle track....20 miles.
