A CLUBMAN'S RIDE TO GLENUSK

9.12.12

After a couple of weeks of rain the weather had turned bitterly cold. The Brothers cycled out from Croesyceiliog to take a short training ride to keep things going. I started by forgetting my helmet, much to Nick's amusement! The ride carried on along the Trehebert road and then up the sharp incline up to Croesyllwarch. The road around to Glen Usk is very different this time of year, very wintry and bare looking. Something strange happened here, I found I was actually enjoying it! The quiet, traffic-free, roads continued to the short climb up to Court Farm water treatment works. Breakfast was eaten in the shape of  beautiful Usk pies! Surely the best meat pies ever!  After this great repast, it was a  short ride home back along the Trehebert Road....25km with 500 metres of climbing.
