Blaenavon and back.

I left Croesyceiliog at 11.00. It was a leafy, burnt-wood, golden ride out on the lanes through Glascoed, Goytre, Nant-y-Derry and then to Croes-Llanfair where I met Nick. Our ride then took us out to Llanellen, here the narrow lane over the canal beckoned. This is a steep undulating wooded track that dips and winds it way up and up the side of the Blorenge mountain. The trees were left behind and the howling wind blew straight at us on the bare mountainside. The two large communication masts which are clearly seen for miles around were now just above us. In the last four miles we had climbed from 40 metres to 510 metres. The view was superior in the last of the light of the day on that Saturday afternoon. A high-quality 12 mile sprint back home was then enjoyed!....30 miles.
