Bank Holiday Monday brought strong winds as we cycled along Trehebert road from Croesyceiliog and the ride down to the village of Llantrisant was hard going. It had, howeve, blown the clouds away and there was brilliant sunshine as we climbed up Llewellyn Dingle and over to Llangwm. The fabulous lane through Wolvesnewton was taken here, I commented to Nick that this lane has remained unchanged since I started riding nearly 40 years previously. Thankfully the ascent was sheltered from the wind and there were excellent views of  the Black Mountains. All was quiet through Trellech  Grange and the secret wooded lane up to the Organy Pool plateau high above the Wye Valley. The wind had finally died down and a peaceful lunch was enjoyed by Organy Pool. Our usual route was then taken back home through Llansoy, where the Star pub had reopened, and then a quick stop in Usk for an ice cream. We cycled home via the top road towards Coed-y-Paen, Glascoed, where Nick was attacked by a swarm of wasps, and the old abandoned road from New Inn to Croesyceiliog....40 miles.
