New bits on my Longstaff.
Spring '04

Every Spring-time I like to treat my Longstaff to a strip down, a good clean and some extra TLC. I also use the opportunity to touch up the paintwork and replace any parts that are worn or need replacing for any other reason, also I often give it a present for it's birthday in March ! This year I decided to put on a newer, more modern looking, chainset to replace the TA Zephyr which was starting to look bit on the retro side. I was thinking putting on a Shimano chainset, an XT triple maybe, which would compliment the rest of the Shimano equipment on the bike but TA have recently brought out a new range of chainsets and the 'Vega' triple caught my eye. With it's black anodised crank arms and the usual TA quality chainrings it looked just the biz. Fear not though, the Zephyr chainset will have a good home on my white no-name touring bike.

The 'Flinger' mudguards.
I also decided on some new mudguards. I had always used SKS 'guards in the past but these new 'guards from Flinger caught my eye. With their trapezoidal shaped profile they fit nicely under the Shimano brakes. They come with stainless fitings throughout and with a multitude of fitting accessories including some nifty bolts which replace the recessed allen key bolts on the brakes.
