Sunday morning and a ride over the British mountain was planned. Climbing to 480 metres from sea level this is one of our standard rides. After cycling on the cycle track to Pontypool the old road to Crumlin was taken. Turning up Park Road toward the climb I was not feeling my best and did not have a very good climb up the narrow steep track to Pantygasseg. Here the lane makes a metamorphous from urban sprawl to dramatic open mountain scenery with good views of the Brecon Beacons. Climbing past the sheep I still suffered and eventually struggled over the climb. From here it was a quick ride down the valley through Abersychan and Pontypool....20 miles.
