It was the Sunday of the May holiday as I cycled down to meet Nick in Newport at the fire Station. The weather was not to bad as we cycled along the myriad of lanes that criss-cross the Nash moor flood plain. Part of this area is dominated by the old Llanwern steelworks, very much smaller than before and more or less on its last legs, I posed for a pic by the old abandoned Bishton gate. Much of this area is also covered with massive supermarket depots and, of course, Magor Brewery. There are several old lanes that worm their way through these places and here Nick punctured. After fixing that puncture I hit a shard of glass and also punctured! It was time to cut the ride short and the road to Llanwern village beckoned. In the fading light we had a good atmospheric ride over to Abernant, then, with the lamps lit, it was a  pleasent meander alongside the river Usk and a quick ride home via Newbridge-on-Usk and the Treherbert road.
