WINTER HARDENING - A RIDE TO USK.

28.11.10

Icy cold temperatures of -7 degrees Celsius met us as we cycled out from Croesyceiliog. It was Sunday, 09:00. In the summer I had bought a Ribble winter training frame with forks and out of our vast collection of cycle spares we were able to build a new bike up! The only new parts being the SKS mudguards and the rear dérailleur. A new Carridice 'Super C' bag on a Bagman rack completed the setup. It was hard getting warmed up in the sub-zero conditions but the Brothers had a good ride out on the Trehebert road to the Cwrt  Bleddyn hotel, from here the cold road took us over to Newbridge-on-Usk. I was pleased with the new bike but not with the frost, however a quick stop in Usk for coffee and sausage rolls warmed us up. The frosty landscape back through Monkswood and Glascoed really made an impressive end to this short winter ride....20 miles.
